Durkin hit all of the familiar and expected beats here, starting off by saying how excited he was to be done with the satellite camp debate.
He’s putting a huge emphasis on local recruiting and trying to communicate to local players that they can build something at Maryland if they stay home. He’s excited to be coaching in the same division as former bosses Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer. Durkin addressed the program’s Under Armour connection and praised the new Cole Field House project.
Durkin also said that cornerback Will Likely is going to see action on offense, which is the most exciting news you’ll hear out of this event. He emphasized again players will have to earn positions, saying, “You earn what you get. Nothing’s handed to you.”
