Maryland basketball lost in the Sweet 16, but Virginia's loss shows it could've been worse

Happy Monday, everybody. Here's what's up to start the week:

Virginia lost to Syracuse in the Elite Eight yesterday, capping one of the worst collapses in college basketball history. The Cavaliers had a 51-37 lead with 9:47 remaining before giving up a 31-11 run and losing. It was an outrageous loss for Virginia, the kind that will reverberate for a really long time. It's also a reminder that there are far worse ways to lose than, say, by just getting crushed in the second half of a Sweet 16 game. Here's some stuff on that:
