The semifinals for the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis are set. Michigan will face Purdue on Saturday afternoon, followed a half-hour later by Maryland and Michigan State.
The Terps and Spartans on Friday beat Nebraska and Ohio State, respectively, to set up their clash. Michigan upset top-seeded Indiana, while Purdue handled tournament cinderella Illinois in a blowout. Out of the Big Ten's four quarterfinal games on Friday, just one was competitive. Michigan's Kam Chatman hit a stunning buzzer-beater to knock off the Hoosiers in a game in their own state.
Here's the schedule. It is short and sweet:
Michigan (8) vs. Purdue (4), 1 p.m. ET, CBS
Michigan State (2) vs. Maryland (3) , 3:30 p.m. ET (estimated), CBS
Maryland certainly drew the toughest remaining opponent, but that's sometimes the way tournaments work. The Terps, in retrospect, were fortunate to draw a third-game-in-three-days Nebraska team in what turned out to be a tuneup.
Here's a full bracket, updated after Friday's action:
