Maryland men's lacrosse goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr is on the watch list for the Tewaarton Award, given annually to the best men's and women's players in the country. Women's lacrosse midfielder Taylor Cummings has won the same award in each of the last two years and is ostensibly the favorite to do it again, so this is probably fairly boring for her. Defender Alice Mercer joins Cummings on the women's list.
We'll let Maryland explain the Tewaaraton Award, for those not familiar:
The Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour, annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.

Players not named to the initial list have several opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 17 and April 7. On April 28, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
Bernlohr is already pretty accomplished in the net for Maryland. He won the Kelly Award as the country's best goalie last season and is the backbone of a stingy Maryland defense in this, his senior year.
Cummings is one of the great Maryland athletes of any era, in any sport. She's given Maryland elite play in national championship seasons twice in a row, and she's been the best player on the best program in the country.
Mercer is a senior defender for Maryland and has, like Cummings, put two national titles under her belt.
