GameThread: Maryland vs. Minnesota

Let's talk about the Terps and Gophers.

Sung-Min Kim/Testudo Times

The Maryland men's basketball team faces Minnesota at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday night. You can watch the game on the Big Ten Network (or stream it on BTN2Go) and follow along here all night.

The Gophers are 0-13 in Big Ten play. Despite them having played a handful of competitive games against strong competition, there's no reason to think this is anything other than a very bad basketball team. Maryland is without suspended five-star center Diamond Stone, but this still should be a fairly straightforward affair for the Terps.

On the other hand, Maryland has played plenty of sluggish games against teams it ought to handle easily, and Minnesota will probably treat this game like its Super Bowl. The Gophers have no realistic aspirations of winning the Big Ten Tournament or qualifying even for the NIT, and a win against a top-10 team would give Richard Pitino's team a nice high point in an otherwise miserable season. To that end, Maryland shouldn't expect a complete cakewalk.

Let's poll it:
