Fifty-seven athletes from Maryland’s six fall teams received Academic All-Big Ten honors from the conference Wednesday.
Qualifiers for the honor must be in at least their second year with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. It’s not exactly an exclusive club—1,015 student-athletes from all 14 Big Ten schools are in it—but it’s a testament to those that dedicate themselves to the less glamorous part of college.
Perry Hills and Ty Johnson were among the 15 football players to earn the honor, and they’re joined by 10 student-athletes from field hockey, 12 from cross country, 11 from women’s soccer, four from men’s soccer and five from volleyball.
