He chose the Terps from a top three that included Pitt and Temple. Bennett is the No. 38 recruit in Pennsylvania and the No. 183 corner in the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite. 247Sports rates Maryland’s as the No. 15 class in the country following Bennett’s commitment, and third in the Big Ten behind only Ohio State and Michigan.
Bennett is the third corner to join Maryland’s 2017 class, along with Deon Jones and Fofie Bazzie. The Terps also hold verbal commitments from Dazz Newsome and Jalen Browder, both of whom are technically classified as “athletes.” Those two could also end up playing corner if and when they get to Maryland.
Bennett’s commitment comes on the same day as Maryland basketball commit Bruno Fernando made his commitment official by signing his National Letter of Intent.
