It’s just about time for the Maryland-Penn State matchup we’ve had circled on our calendars for months. It’s a game that means many things to many people. Some think it’s a rivalry game; others are more dismissive in that regard, but the consensus is that there’s an extra something to it.
Either way, we should know more about the Terps after this contest than before. It’s a road game against a division opponent that most metrics put on par with Maryland, as opposed to the overmatched early foes. The outcome is anything but a foregone conclusion, and that’s exciting.
The numbers
Maryland: 4-0 (1-0 Big Ten)
Penn State: 3-2 (1-1 Big Ten)
All-time series: Penn State leads, 36-2-1, but the teams have traded one-point victories in the previous two matchups
