The Maryland men's basketball team is in Columbus on Sunday, set for a 1 p.m. tip with Ohio State. Value City Arena hasn't been kind to the Terps over the past two years, but this is a new season and a new opportunity. The teams met just 15 days ago, when Maryland trounced Ohio State 100-65 at Xfinity Center in College Park.
Ohio State, 14-8 and rated No. 65 in the country on Ken Pomeroy's index, has had an up-and-down year. The Buckeyes scored a nice win against Kentucky in December, but they haven't done anything impressive since and are 0-3 in games against Big Ten contenders Maryland, Purdue and Indiana. All of those losses came by double digits.
And yet, the Buckeyes are in the thick of the conference race. They are 6-3 in the league, only a game back of the 7-2 Terps, and a Maryland loss here would be dangerous for its conference tournament seeding outlook.
So: Does Maryland move to 19-3 or 18-4?
