Maryland men's basketball hosts Iowa in the first-ever top-10 matchup in Xfinity Center history on Thursday.
Iowa is for real. The Hawkeyes have been victorious over Michigan State twice and just beat ranked Purdue for the second time this year. Iowa's Jarrod Uthoff might be the Big Ten Player of the Year this season, and that's really saying something in a conference that also has Denzel Valentine and Melo Trimble.
Maryland has yet to lose a conference game at home since joining the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes are unbeaten in Big Ten play and are riding a nine-game win streak. One of those streaks will come to an end tonight.
Rebounding will be a key to the game. Despite their size, the Terps are currently 147th in offensive rebounding percentage and 97th on defense. They'll have to do much better if they want to beat Iowa. A win against the Hawkeyes would revitalize the Terrapins, and throw them back into the mix to win the Big Ten. A loss would put Maryland three league defeats behind Iowa and make winning the regular season league title close to impossible.
