COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Randy Edsall has announced the addition of defensive end Melvin Keihn and placekicker Daniel Sutton to the 2015 Maryland football roster.

A transfer from Virginia Tech, Keihn (pronounced "CANE") will sit out the 2015 season due to NCAA rules and will be eligible as a redshirt sophomore in 2016.

"We are excited to welcome Melvin and Daniel to the Maryland football program," Edsall said. "Melvin has strong local ties to the area and it's great he will be continuing to play football and further his education in College Park."

A native of Towson, Md., Keihn played in all 13 games as a freshman for the Hokies in 2014. He played primarily on special teams, while also making appearances on defense.

Keihn had a highly successful prep tenure at the Gilman School, twice being named to the Baltimore Sun All-Metro First Team and the all-state team. The 16th-ranked outside linebacker in the country and fourth overall prospect in Maryland according to Rivals, he was also selected to the Under Armour All-America game as a senior.

Sutton is a transfer from Towson, and will be eligible for the 2016 season as a redshirt sophomore. He was a three-time all-conference selection at New Hope Solebury High School in Pennsylvania.
