High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Brandon Ross was a three-year starter at the Charter School of Wilmington and second team all-state selection as a senior. He committed to Maryland and redshirted his first year (2011). As a redshirt freshman (2012), he led the team in rushing with 390 yards. Against North Carolina, he had a career high 21 carries and 141 yards including a 71 yard touchdown run.
As a sophomore (2013), he started twice the amount of games he played in the last year; he had 12 starts in 2013 and recorded a team high 865 yards and he also scored four touchdowns. Last season as a Big Ten running back (2014), he played in all 13 games with nine starts and had his best year so far in average yards per rush (4.9) and yards per catch (15.1).
Career Highlight:
His career highlight is gaining a career high 149 yards on 18 carries against Old Dominion and scoring a touchdown that game in 2013.
Dream Season:
A dream season for Brandon Ross would be breaking 1,000 yards rushing and seeing the end zone more than 10 times. He already has over 1,500 career rushing yards and this could be the season he reaches 2,000 as the bell cow of Maryland's rushing attack.
2015 Prospectus:
Ross was given the starting job in Maryland's first two deep depth chart. His best year was in 2013 as far as rushing yards go but it would mean a lot for him and his team if he's able to crack 1,000+ yards. With Maryland's new offensive line in place, they have young talent that could be of help to him as a veteran. A solid year from Ross could see his NFL Draft stock rise and scouts and coaches would have their eyes on him.
Up Next:
Our next player is one of the only players at his position in the country to have been put on scholarship straight out of high school.
