How'd He Get to College Park?
Damian Prince was one of the most dominant offensive lineman in the country coming out of Bishop McNamara, earning multiple All-American honors. In addition to those accolades, he also was a two-time Maryland Consensus All-State selection, two-time Washington Post first team All-Met selection and two-time first team All-WCAC selection.McNamara in 2014. He participated in the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game selection, was named a Parade All-American and USA Today First Team All-USA.
In a piece written by the Washington Post's Roman Stubbs back in August 2014 on freshman Damian Prince and Derwin Gray, Prince performed well in his first week as a Terp:
Prince held his own in several one-on-one drills during the middle of the week, but was also floored on one particular play by linebacker Yannick Ngakoue. He made several nice blocks during 11-on-11 drills Friday, but said the biggest accomplishment during the first week was learning how the offense fully functions and learning to make his calls.
"Honestly, it was a little bit scary…it was like ‘Wow, I went through all those years of recruiting, and now I’m finally here," Prince said of starting camp. "I’m just going to do whatever the coaches ask me. I’m going to get into my playbook. I feel like anybody that is competing on this team wants a chance to start."
Career Highlight:
His career highlight so far is announcing his commitment to Maryland.
Dream Season:
Holding down the right tackle spot, starting to show some of his five-star potential.
2015 Prospectus:
The depth chart for the 2015 season has come out and Prince has the starting right tackle spot locked up ... for now. Once Derwin Gray returns to health, things might get complicated, but the five-star linemen will get an opportunity to show his stuff this year on the line. Prince has spent time at both tackle and guard during his Maryland career so far, and he's certain to play a role at some position in College Park.
Up Next:
Our next player attended the same high school as three other players on the team, and played in eight games as a true freshman last season.
