Maryland football held its open scrimmage Saturday in the midst of a three-way quarterback battle. Some takeaways from reporters who were at the scene:
Maryland updated its roster to include QB Dexter Foreman, DL Melvin Keihn and K Daniel Sutton. No updated two-deep. pic.twitter.com/UmEKk29iJ9

Perry Hills is the first #Terps QB on the field for the Fan Appreciation Day scrimmage. Touchdown to Levern Jacobs on first drive.

#Terps drive under Daxx Garman stalls after third down drop by DeAndre Lane. Garman 2/3 for 15 yards. Joe Riddle three carries for 10 yards.

2nd series not so good. Hills rolls out to the right in shadow of his own goal line and throws a pick to Will Likely.

Perry Hills hit Avery Edwards for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Nice catch by Edwards, who beat A.J. Hendy.

Garman throws one off his backfoot and DJ Moore runs under it for a long gain. Maryland expecting big contributions from freshman.
— Daniel Gallen (@danieljtgallen) August 22, 2015
Garman plunges into end zone on roll out. #Terps QBs obviously in yellow jerseys so no hit but probably would have made it in live action.

Frosh Ty Johnson just ran in 15 yd TD. Had a few nice runs. Garman's 2nd TD drive. Big connections with Levern (35 yds) & Etta-Tawo (25 yds)

Was about to say Perry Hills looks like Perry Hills, Starting Quarterback. Then he almost threw a pick & took a sack on a Hail Mary.
— Daniel Gallen (@danieljtgallen) August 22, 2015
DeAndre Lane and Will Ulmer are the only two to return kicks so far today. Ulmer just got rocked by his own guy (Michael Cornwell). Bizarre.
— Alex Lee (@leeal02) August 22, 2015
#Terps RB Marcus Smith take the handoff from Caleb Rowe and rips off a 25-yard TD down the right side. Nice run.
— Scott Greene (@TerrapinNation) August 22, 2015
And Brandon Ross continues to rip off big chunks of yards for the #Terps. Has been most impressive RB in fall camp IMO.
— Pat Donohue (@SportsDownPat) August 22, 2015
QB Gage Shaffer, fourth on the depth chart, has quarterbacked two of the last three drives. He just threw his first TD pass of the day.

All 3 #Terps QBs had their good and bad moments. But Garman's balls seem to have more zip on them and he is the most consistently accurate
— Pat Donohue (@SportsDownPat) August 22, 2015
Garman and Hills both have had moments, but both with a couple of egregious throws that got picked or should have. Rowe was meh. #Terps
— Alex Lee (@leeal02) August 22, 2015
Edsall said that reps were based off camp performances. Hills looked the best so he got most snaps. Daxx was second and caleb was third

This gives you a sense of the speed of @umterps DE Yannick Ngakoue, who is poised for a big year. pic.twitter.com/tUNItkDU4T
