High School Highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Derwin Gray helped lead Friendship Collegiate to the 2012 DCSAA Championship, played in the Under Armor All-American Game,  played on the South Team at the Chesapeake Bowl and was named second-team All-Met by The Washington Post. He spent the 2013 season at Fork Union Military Academy.

He was one of three players from Friendship Collegiate Academy to commit to Maryland in 24 hours. The other two were Maryland linebackers Yannick Ngakoue and Cavon Walker. Each player was in the 2013 recruiting class.

His freshman year (2014), he redshirted and back in April of this year he tore his labrum and needed to have surgery. He's currently still trying to recover and get back to 100 percent.

Career Highlight:

Derwin Gray's career highlight is committing to the Maryland.

Dream Season:

A dream season for Gray would be to start multiple games on the opposite side of Damian Prince and help the offensive line record respectable rushing and passing numbers. In addition to that, Gray getting an All-Big Ten honor or even an honorable mention would cap off a great season.

2015 Prospectus:

Derwin Gray is recovering from a torn labrum and may not be ready to play until September. Something that the Terps could hope for is that he's ready to go by the September 12th game vs Bowling Green or the USF game that next week.  If he's gets to start at any point this season, given the fact that Michael Dunn is the starter at left tackle, hopefully Maryland fans will get to see what the Gray can do on game day. 2016 ideally will be his year to get the starting job.

Up Next:

This former high school quarterback ran and passed for over 1,000 yards with 21 combined touchdowns during his senior year as a St. John's Cadet.
