Who Maryland beat: Illinois, Massachusetts.

High school highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

A year-round athlete at Willingboro, who also participated in basketball and track, Culmer was lightly recruited three-star prospect, evidenced by the fact that he only received two other FBS offers. In addition to receiver, Culmer also played running back and defensive back in high school. Culmer signed with the Terps on February 1, 2011, and confirmed his commitment on National Signing Day.

After redshirting his first year in College Park, Culmer's workload was supposed to increase gradually. However, after Nigel King suffered a leg injury, Culmer found himself with a little bit of playing time. When Stefon Diggs and Deon Long both suffered broken legs against Florida State, Culmer was thrust into an even bigger role on offense. He appeared in 12 games and made four starts as a redshirt freshman, while making five catches for 59 yards. He saw a decrease in playing time as a sophomore when Diggs and Long returned, making one catch for five yards.

Career Highlight:

His first catch, a 26-yard haul against Connecticut after King went down with injury.

Dream Season:

Culmer secures a starting spot and becomes a go-to threat for whoever is under center. He becomes a reliable short and mid-range receiver across from Levern Jacobs.

2015 Prospectus:

According to the latest depth chart, Culmer is competing with Taivon Jacobs for a starting spot. So whether or not he actually gets the nod from Randy Edsall, the fact that he is in the running to be a starter means he'll get to see the field this season.
