Maryland four-star quarterback commit Dwayne Haskins, from Potomac (Md.) Bullis School, is in Oregon this week for Nike's The Opening and Elite 11 finals. For more coverage on the week's events, make sure to follow along with myself and Bud Elliott, both in Oregon for the festivities.
The Elite 11 portion started Monday, with Haskins competing alongside fellow blue-chip prospects like Malik Henry (committed to Florida State), Shea Patterson (Ole Miss) and Jacob Eason (Georgia). Those three may be five-star recruits, but Haskins held on his own on the first day.
The Oregonian's Andrew Nemec said Haskins was one of the best players on the field.
Maryland's Dwayne Haskins Jr. was equally impressive, zipping passes around the field and showing some of the best arm strength of any quarterback at Elite 11.
The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Maryland commit didn't come in as a headliner, but if he keeps throwing the way he has early, he'll leave it as one of the marquee names.
Nemec wasn't the only spectator to come away with that opinion.
Most consistent QB in first Elite 11 session may have been Maryland commit Dwayne Haskins (@dh_simba7). Calm, steady and confident.
