Virginia DE prospect Carlos Basham commits to Wake Forest

A recent addition to the Terrapins' board goes elsewhere.

Maryland lost out on 2016 local defensive end Carlos Basham Monday, as he committed to Wake Forest over the Terrapins and fellow finalist Pittsburgh. Cincinnati also offered the 6'4, 225-pound athlete from Roanoke (Va.) Northside High School.

Basham would have been Maryland's first Virginian commitment in the class. The Terrapins have commitments from defensive lineman Joey Fisher (a Maryland local) and Jeffery Pooler (an Ohio native), but after the recent loss of Ellison Jordan to Penn State, Maryland desperately needs help up front. No real targets remain on the board, so keep an ear out for future offers at the position.

Basham is considered a three-star by Rivals, and is the second Virginia recruit in Wake Forest's 2016 class. We will keep you updated as Maryland searches for additional talent along the line in the class.
