Tyler Burke, freshman (RS), inside linebacker, No. 9

Height: 6'3

Weight: 245

Collegiate stats: N/A

High school: Coatesville (Coatesville, Penn.)

High school stats (Senior Year): 150 tackles, 11 sacks, three interceptions

Composite recruiting rating: 3 stars (.8363), No. 51 weak-side defensive end, No. 33 player in Pennsylvania

Who Maryland beat: Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, NC State

High school highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Burke was a highly successful two-way player at Coatesville Area, adding a touchdown reception to his impressive numbers noted above. He committed to the Terps back in June 2013 just hours after fellow Pennsylvanian prospect Brett Kulka did the same. His primary recruiters were tight ends coach John Dunn and inside linebackers coach Keith Dudzinski, now the Terps' defensive coordinator.

Burke helped lead his team to the playoffs his senior year, being named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers' Class AAAA All-State Team, the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Southern Pa. Team and receiving a litany of other similar honors and titles.

Last year, he redshirted, earning scout team player of the week honors in the weeks leading up to the Penn State and Michigan games.

Career Highlight:

Those two scout team player of the week honors.

Dream Season:

Burke beats out Brock Dean as the No. 2 middle linebacker behind Jermaine Carter.

2015 Prospectus:

Jermaine Carter, Jr. seems pretty entrenched as the starter at middle linebacker for the next three years, giving limited opportunities for Burke early on in his career. He's a talented prospect, however, and should start seeing significant playing time either on special teams or as a reserve linebacker this season.

Up Next:

Our next player is one of three from the same powerhouse Southern high school on Maryland's roster, but the only one that has not yet seen collegiate action.
