How'd He Get to College Park?
Maryland was actually the only school to offer Shaw, a relatively unknown recruit out of Pennsylvania, but the tackle did visit Penn State in April 2013 before committing to Maryland in June. His two brothers both played at Penn State and Shaw's first career start came against the Nittany Lions.
Shaw played in seven games last year and made that one start. He had knee surgery this offesason, but is expected to be ready for the season-opener against Richmond. He was backing up a couple of veterans last year, but now will slide into the spotlight in 2015.
Making his first start against Penn State.
Shaw makes a name for himself as one of the premier defensive tackles in the Big Ten, and is able to anchor Maryland's run defense and stifle some of the conference's high-powered running attacks.
Shaw will be a starting defensive tackle in the team's new 4-3 scheme, but he has a tough task ahead of him against the likes of Ohio State and Michigan State. Shaw may struggle this season, but should continue to improve and be ready to be a key player for the front seven in 2016.
Our next player has a younger brother who was in the 2015 recruiting class on the same side of the ball but a different position.
