High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Kulka was a two-way lineman at General McLane, earning all-region honors on both sides of the ball. He also earned two separate all-state team selections, and looks likely to fit in at nose tackle in College Park due to his large frame. He committed to Maryland in late June, visiting twice later on, and never wavered for his signature.
Kulka redshirted his first season on campus, earning scout team player of the week honors once.
Career Highlight:
Earning scout team player of the week honors before the Rutgers game.
Dream Season:
Meaningful playing time.
2015 Prospectus:
Randy Edsall highlighted Kulka as one of the players best suited for the change to a 4-3 defense. Even so, the ramifications of that change may not be seen for a while. With Jesse Aniebonam and Yannick Ngakoue joining established contributors Quinton Jefferson and Roman Braglio at defensive end, Maryland has more than enough talent and experience at the position for this season. Kulka may see time on special teams, but his impact will likely come later in his career.
