High school highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Howard was an All-Met and All-State player at Potomac, where he also played basketball on the same team as Dion Wiley. He committed to Maryland in June 2014 after widely being considered a Tennessee lean, and was one of the top local players in the 2015 class.

Career Highlight:

Receiving a nomination for the 2014 US Army All-American Bowl.

Dream Season:

Howard breaks into a thin defensive depth chart and sets himself as the top tackle of the three freshmen at the position.

2015 Prospectus:

In Maryland's new 4-3 scheme, the Terrapins will now be bringing out two defensive tackles onto the field. David Shaw and Malik Jones appear to be the early favorites (although someone like Roman Braglio or Quinton Jefferson could end up on the inside), and as the two are just sophomores they could be in those starting roles for quite some time. That'll put it between Howard, Adam McLean and early enrollee Oseh Saine to pick up the extra playing time. McLean is still recovering from an ACL injury suffered in high school and will most likely redshirt this season, leaving Howard in a competition with Saine for playing time. Saine likely has the advantage due to his older age and semester spent on campus, but Howard could see the field with a strong camp.

Up Next:

Our next player's high school is in a borough with nearly the same name as a major Scottish city.
