Silas Kelly commits to Maryland: Terps add local DB to 2016 class

That's two DB commits in one day for Randy Edsall.

Just a few weeks ago, I was writing about how desperately Maryland needs reinforcements at the defensive back position. The Terrapins' future depth chart looked light before the departure of D'Andre Payne, and some serious additions were needed to ensure Maryland even had a function secondary in a few years.

Since then, Randy Edsall and the Maryland coaching staff have been on a bit of a roll at the position, adding Pennsylvania safety Mike Viti and New Jersey cornerback Tyrone Hill. Thursday night, the Terrapins added another -- South Carroll (Md.) safety recruit Silas Kelly, who committed almost immediately after receiving his first FBS offer from the Terps.

Kelly joins offensive tackle Brian Plummer as Maryland's second commitment from South Carroll, and Maryland now has enough players in place for a secondary in 2018! Yay!

Kelly brings a lot of size to the position, standing at 6'5 and 200 pounds. Here's his highlight tape:

Maryland's 2016 class now has 14 members.
