High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Originally thought to be a West Virginia favorite, McClain committed to Maryland in June 2014, just a few months after visiting campus. A first team all-state player at Middletown, he helped lead the Knights to three straight state championship seasons. He also played basketball in high school and was an honor roll student.
Career Highlight:
Three straight state championships.
Dream Season:
McClain breaks into the two-deep, beating out Sean Christie and the walk-ons for one of the backup tackle spots.
2015 Prospectus:
Maryland is more than relatively thin at offensive tackle, with just five scholarship players at the position by our count. More shuffling is likely to take place between the guards and tackles, and there are a few walk-ons who could see playing time, but McClain has an opportunity to see playing time as a true freshman if he performs well enough in camp. Michael Dunn, Derwin Gray and Damian Prince are the likely competitors for the two starting spots, with McClain, Sean Christie and surely at least one other person in competition for reserve snaps.
Up Next:
Our next player is featured in a photo of Randy Edsall we use quite frequently on the site for good news (especially recruiting posts).
Standings:
apgibson24 gets on the board by virtue of spelling Mr. McClain's last name correctly and by not guessing twice. One guess per commenter, y'all.
