High school highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Yannick was one of the top local prospects in the class of 2013. After initially committing to Maryland, Ngakoue received offers from a virtually every big name program you can think of, causing him to reopen his commitment before eventually reaffirming his desire to play for Randy Edsall in College Park.
Career Highlight:
So many awesome plays from last season, but my favorite are from the Penn State game.
Dream Season:
Ngakoue thrives in his new new role in Maryland's 4-3 defense and records 10+ sacks during Maryland's 2nd season in the B1G.
2015 Prospectus:
Ngakoue really began his career as more of an outside linebacker, but transitioned over to an edge pass-rusher due to his athletic ability. Once Yannick Kudjoe-Virgil went down with an injury during Ngakoue's sophomore year, it basically cemented him as an edge rusher.
Last season, Yannick was great, especially coming off the edge, during Maryland's first season in the Big Ten. He totaled 13.5 of his career 18 tackles for a loss and also picked up six sacks. With Maryland's switch to a 4-3 defensive scheme this season, Ngakoue should thrive in his new role as a defensive end.
Up Next:
Our next player might enjoy a certain Jim Henson character because of a song that character sings and is famous for.
