Maryland recruiting roundup: New offer, Potomac DB Greg Ross commits to North Carolina

Dwayne Haskins’ big board takes a hit as local DB Greg Ross pledges to North Carolina.

The DMV-to-UMD movement took a slight hit as Potomac (MD) defensive back Greg Ross pledged to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Ross originally planned on committing May 2nd but delayed his commitment. The Terps were amongst the top-4 schools for Ross, but North Carolina was labeled as the favorite by many once a scholarship was offered.

Here is the Maryland football recruiting news for the week.

New offer: (All ratings according to the 247Sports Composite)

  • 2017 four-star wide receiver Leroy Henley. The 6'2, 175-pound receiver captured his 18th offer on Thursday. Henley stands as the 43rd-ranked wide receiver and 32nd-ranked player in Florida in the 2017 class.

Other News:

  • Per ESPN Recruiting Analyst Tom VanHaaren, Good Counsel linebacker Jordan Anthony received offers from Auburn and Syracuse.

  • Landon (MD) linebacker Keith Simms received an offer from Oregon. The 2016 linebacker is amongst the standouts being recruited by Haskins.

  • Dematha offensive guard Terrance Davis received an offer from Florida. The No.2 offensive guard in the country has been closely connected to Haskins, and is one of the current Dematha Stags who would help rejuvenate the Dematha-to-Maryland pipeline.

  • Atlee (VA) 2016 safety, JJ Givens received an offer from Ole Miss.

  • Episcopal (TX) offensive tackle Walker Little received an offer from Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Little received an offer from Maryland on May 8th.

  • 2016 McKeesport (PA) linebacker Tymar Sutton received his first ACC offer from Boston College. Sutton also received an offer from Kent State.

  • McDonogh School (MD) safety Eric Burrell received an offer from Arizona. The local standout has accumulated 17 offers per her 247Sports page.

  • 2017 Sherando (VA) Dylan Rivers received an offer from Duke.

  • Fredericksburg, (VA) Riverbend offensive tackle Zach Adams received an offer from Vanderbilt. This marked Adams' first offer from an SEC school.

  • Dematha 2016 offensive tackle Elijah Johnson received an offer from Pittsburgh. Johnson is also on the target list for Haskins.

  • 2017 DT Dayln Wade-Perry received an offer from Kentucky, per Adam Friedman of Rivals. Wade-Perry holds 14 offers per his 247Sports page. The massive 6'4, 320-pound defensive lineman stands as the 20th-ranked defensive tackle and the 5th-ranked player in New Jersey.

  • St. John's College (D.C.) linebacker Aaron Hansford received an offer from Georgia. Hansford has been heavily recruited by Maryland, but Ohio State is labeled as the favorite - 100% of his crystal ball picks are for the Buckeyes.
