The Maryland All-Randy Edsall team: Punter

Who will join Brad Craddock in the kicking unit?

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

As the offseason kicks into another gear, Testudo Times readers will be voting on the All-Randy Edsall team. All players who started multiple games under Randy Edsall (2011-14) at Maryland are eligible for consideration.

Kicker was ridiculously easy. Brad Craddock won with 95% of the vote, beating out Nick Ferrara. Who will join him in the unit? Punting has not been a strength for the Terrapins under Randy Edsall, but someone has to win the vote (and it's probably not going to be Ferrara again, sorry Nick!).

Feel free to vote using whichever criteria you please. After we finish with each position, we'll post the results of the full team. Stats are only from the specific position during games played under Edsall.

Nick Ferrara

Stats (1 season): 57 punts, 2,249 yards (39.5 average)

A punter in spots for Friedgen in 2009, Ferrara was reduced to kickoff specialist in 2010.  Ferrara won back both the kicking and punting jobs in 2011 under Edsall. He missed his senior season with a hip tendon injury, making way for Brad Craddock and freshman Nate Renfro.

Nate Renfro

Stats (3 seasons): 234 punts, 9,524 yards (40.7 average)

Originally set to walk-on at Florida State, Renfro instead accepted a scholarship offer at Maryland. He spent his first year on the bench behind Nick Ferrara, earning the starting job in 2012 and holding onto it for the next three years. Renfro punting average slowly improved, from 39.7 as a freshman to 40.8 as a sophomore and 41.5 as a junior, but he never was able to match the kick prowess of special teams partner Brad Craddock. Renfro announced he would be graduating early and leaving the football program after the 2014 season.
