Recruiting Roundup: Brian Plummer, Travon Stott commit to Maryland

The Terps continue to establish momentum with T Brian Plummer and CB Travon Stott committing to the Terps.

The Maryland Terrapins continued their success on their recruiting trail last week with commitments from 6’7 OT Brian Plummer and 5’11 CB Travon Stott. Stott, a standout at Good Counsel, marked the sixth commitment in the 2016 class for the Terrapins and the third commitment in eight days. Both Plummer and Stott were very close to committing right away after their offers from Maryland and ultimately didn’t take long to announce their college destination. Here are the prospects the Terrapins are looking towards in hopes of continuing their hot streak during the recruiting circuit.

New offers:

  • Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage DE Brian Burns. The 6’5, 212-pound defensive end holds offers from Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Clemson, LSU and Florida State among others.

  • Connecticut Athlete Jake Morgenstern. At 6’3, 210 pounds, Morgenstern play Linebacker and Running Back for St. Luke’s School. The prospect holds offers from Wisconsin, Boston College, Duke, Clemson and Mississippi State among others.

  • New Jersey DB Tyrone Hill. The 6’0, 190-pound CB holds offers from Army, Old Dominion and Navy

Other Notes:

  • 2016 Southlake Christian Academy RB Robert Washington officially eliminated the Terps from contention as he announced via twitter that Florida rounded out his list of top-6 schools. Washington will be choosing from Syracuse, UNC, TCU, Alabama, Michigan and Florida. The prospect is scheduled to announce on April 25th.

  • McKeesport safety/athlete Khaleke Hudson is planning a return visit to Penn State, followed by a visit to Maryland. Hudson, the 12th-ranked player in Pennsylvania, is listed as a Penn State lean according to 247sports.

  • Potomac Safety Gregory Ross announced he received an offer from Boston College per his twitter.

  • St. John’s College (DC) athlete/linebacker Aaron Hansford announced on his twitter that he received an offer from Kentucky. Hansford is labeled as a strong Ohio State lean per 247sports.

  • 2016 Pro-style quarterback Augie DeBiase visited Maryland on April 1st. DeBiase holds scholarships from Indiana and Virginia Tech, and is labeled as a Virginia Tech lean

  • 2017 Clairton HS (PA) CB LaMont Wade will visit Maryland on April 11th. Wade, a high 4-star recruit, is listed as the 4th-ranked CB in the country per 247sports.

  • Central Catholic (PA) CB Damar Hamlin received his 33rd scholarship offer from Nebraska, per his twitter account. Former Maryland defensive coordinator and now defensive backs coach at Nebraska Brian Stewart has continued his pursuit of Hamlin in his new role. Hamlin is a Penn State lean and could team up with former high school teammate Johnny Petrishen, a former Terp target.

  • DeMatha star wide receiver Tino Ellis visited Rutgers over the weekend. Ellis, who has publicly said Maryland and Virginia Tech standout, will announce his decision on July 31st.

  • Carmel Catholic (IL) Tight End Noah Turner visited Louisville on Saturday.

  • McDonogh School safety Eric Burrell received an offer from Illinois. Burrell is up to nine offers as his junior season comes to a close.

  • Atlee (VA) athlete JJ Givens announced on twitter he intends to visit Duke, ECU, NC State and Wake Forest.

  • New York LB Elias Reynolds received an offer from Pittsburgh, per his twitter.
