The Maryland All-Randy Edsall team: Wide receiver run-off vote

Well, that was easy.

Within an hour of posting our poll for the wide receiver selections for the All-Randy Edsall team, it was clear that Stefon Diggs was running away with the voting. He's got the first spot on lock, but there are still two more places available for wide receivers on this all-star team.

Here are the blurbs and stats from the first post. As always, vote using whichever criteria you wish.

Kevin Dorsey

Stats: 63 catches, 884 receiving yards (14.0 per catch), seven touchdowns

A former four-star prospect out of Forestville, Dorsey played a small role on Ralph Friedgen's last two Maryland teams before emerging as a legitimate No. 1 option on Edsall's first two squads in College Park. He set career highs in 2011 in receptions (45) and yards (573), and never really came close to either mark. As a senior in 2012, Dorsey caught 18 passes for 311 yards and a career-high four touchdowns before being drafted in the seventh round by the Green Bay Packers. He is now with the New England Patriots.

Quintin McCree

Stats: 40 catches, 485 receiving yards (12.1 per catch), one touchdown, 42 rushing yards (5.3 per rush)

Another Friedgen holdover, McCree played just one season with Randy Edsall at Maryland. He posted career highs in every category and even contributed in the run game.

Kerry Boykins

Stats: 41 catches, 466 receiving yards (11.4 per catch), 13 rushing yards (6.5 per rush)

A highly-touted recruit of Virginia, Boykins caught his lone career touchdown pass in 2010 against Boston College. He started at slot in 2011, catching 37 passes for 430 yards. He suffered a season-ending injury in November 2012.

Ronnie Tyler

Stats: 18 catches, 158 receiving yards (8.8 per catch), one touchdown, two carries, five yards (2.5 per rush)

Tyler played a bigger role under Friedgen, twice eclipsing 200 receiving yards, but still started four games in 2011 under Edsall. He caught a touchdown pass in the opening win against Miami.

Marcus Leak

Stats: 55 catches, 775 receiving yards (14.1 per catch), six touchdowns

Recently a spring game star, Leak enters the 2015 season as the most likely top option at wide receiver for Maryland. He's never topped 400 yards in a season for the Terrapins, but has proven himself to be a consistent option on the outside, especially in the red zone.

Nigel King

Stats: 42 catches, 575 receiving yards (13.7 per catch), five touchdowns

A big prospect out of North Carolina, King chose Maryland over a late offer from LSU. He caught nine passes for 125 yards and a touchdown as a freshman in 2012, breaking out for 33 catches for 450 yards and four touchdowns the next season. With Leak returning from a yearlong hiatus and Diggs and Deon Long controlling the top of Maryland's depth chart at the position, King transferred to Kansas prior to the 2014 season. He caught 30 passes for 537 yards and a touchdown, declaring for the NFL Draft after the year.

Malcolm Culmer

Stats: Six catches, 64 receiving yards (10.7 per catch)

Culmer started multiple games as a sophomore in 2013 after injuries hit Diggs and Long, catching five passes for 59 yards. He caught just one pass in 2014, and appears to be on the outside looking in on the receiver rotation once again.

Amba Etta-Tawo

Stats: 41 catches, 722 receiving yards (17.6 per catch), three touchdowns

An explosive, speedy option, Etta-Tawo caught 31 passes for 500 yards and three touchdowns filling in for Diggs and Long in 2013. He's had problems with his hands in his time with College Park, but figures to play a role in the vertical passing attack this season with a stronger arm at quarterback in Caleb Rowe,

Levern Jacobs

Stats: 54 catches, 690 receiving yards (12.8 per catch), three touchdowns, 29 rushing yards (4.1 per carry), 16.8 yards per kick return

Jacobs has been another reliable option for Maryland when injuries have struck, and he's one of the favorites to start this upcoming season. He missed the 2014 season due to suspension, but caught 47 passes for a team-high 640 yards in 2013.

Deon Long

Stats: 83 catches, 1,064 receiving yards (12.8 per catch), three touchdowns, 27 rushing yards (13.5 per carry)

A former blue-chip prospect, Long transferred to Maryland after stints with New Mexico (and Mike Locksley) and Iowa Western College. He started alongside Diggs at wide receiver for two seasons, recording at least 30 catches both years (with a career-high 51 in 2014). He was never able to top the 809 yards and four touchdowns from his freshman year with the Lobos, but Long was a valuable asset on Maryland's offense for two seasons and should get an NFL chance.

Jacquille Veii

Stats: 21 catches, 248 receiving yards (11.8 per catch), one touchdown, 251 rushing yards (4.3 per carry), two touchdowns, 17.3 yards per kick return

Veii began his Maryland career as a running back, serving as a change-of-pace option as a true freshman in 2013. He switched to wide receiver before the 2014 season, backing up Stefon Diggs at slot before taking over the starting job post-injury. He averaged 14.4 yards per catch while still maintaining an active presence in the running game, and has been moved back to running back prior to the 2015 season.
