All you need to know as the Terps head to the Garden State.

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Maryland and Rutgers square off for the second time this season with the Terps winning the first matchup in College Park. Maryland sent its seniors out of Xfinity Center for the last time with a 66-56 win over Michigan, clinching an 18-1 home record, including an unblemished conference mark, at home. In the first meeting between the two teams, Dez Wells scored 17 points, but shot just 4-of-15 from the field. Jake Layman came down with a double-double, grabbing 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points.

Rutgers enters the game last in the conference with a 10-19 record. including just two Big Ten wins all season, including a win over conference frontrunner Wisconsin. The Scarlett Knights haven't had half as much success in their new conference as their counterpart Terrapins, but played Maryland tough last game, losing by only 8 points on the road. Led by Myles Mack and Kadeem Jack, Rutgers wants to prove they have what it takes to knock off another top 10 team in front of its home crowd in Piscataway, N.J.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Maryland is 24-5 and ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll. Rutgers is 10-19 and 2-14 in the Big Ten.

KenPom's prediction: Maryland, 68-60. 79 percent chance Maryland wins.

Two things at stake

Maryland is in the driver seat for the two spot in the Big Ten and can consequently land a two-round bye in the B1G tournament in Chicago if the Terrapins win the last two games against Rutgers and Nebraska.

Maryland is in the top 10 for the first time since Gary Williams' glory days in 2003 and a loss to Rutgers would surely make the ranking slip.

One big matchup

Melo Trimble vs. Myles Mack. Senior Myles Mack is the heart and soul of the Rutgers team and is really one of their only contributing scorers on their roster. Mack got the best of Melo Trimble last matchup, outscoring him 19 to 11 and contributing more assists as well. Trimble has been one of the best freshman in the nation and coming off a 19-point performance against Michigan, Terps fans should expect more of the same from the guard from Upper Marlboro, despite his struggles the first go around with Mack.
