The Elite Eight is set as Fridays games concluded in Houston and Syracuse. Gonzaga manned UCLA and coasted to a 74-62 win and clinch a date with Duke who edged Utah 73-67 in a hard-fought game. Tom Izzo will advance to his ninth regional final as his Spartans narrowly escaped three-seed Oklahoma in a 61-58 win. Louisville cruised past conference foe NC State, winning 75-65 and securing a matchup with Michigan State.
The games roll on as Saturday features two games, with the winners clinching a spot in the Final Four and a trip to Indianapolis (not the Annapolis). Arizona and Wisconsin start the games off in what's likely to be a heavyweight battle for the spot out of the west. The Wildcats struggled to crack Xavier's zone but emerged victorious in large part to T.J. McConnell's 17 point, 7 rebound, 5 assist performance. The Badgers extended its program-record 34 wins with the 79-72 victory against UNC.
Kentucky is coming off their slaughter of West Virginia in which the Wildcats doubled the Mountaineers score, but a very tough Notre Dame team stands in the way of UK's perfection. The Fighting Irish, coming off its first ever ACC Tournament win, is playing the best basketball of the season and won't lay down without a fight.
