With the coaching staff for the 2015-16 season football season now fully in place, the Maryland Terrapins look to regain and sustain momentum on the recruiting trail for the class of 2016. The Terrapins finalized their coaching staff with the addition of Darrell Perkins, a former assistant to Randy Edsall at UConn. Perkins will man the defensive backs position, and also holds established relationships along the recruiting trail in Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

A trio of players with Maryland offers committed elsewhere this week. Four-star Lake Gibson (Fla.) center Baveon Johnson committed to Florida State, four-star Westlake (Calif.) wide receiver Theo Howard committed to Oregon and three-star Sherwood (Md.) wide receiver Marcus Simms committed to West Virginia. Of the three, only Simms was a major Maryland target, and his commitment came as a surprise.

New 2016 offers for Maryland:

  • Good Counsel CB Travon Stott earned his first scholarship offer from the hometown Terps. Stott is a three-star prospect rated the 26th-best player in the state.

  • Three-star New York linebacker Elias Reynolds, who holds offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Buffalo.

  • Potomac DB Greg Ross, who holds offers from Iowa, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

  • Three-star Virginia defensive back JJ Givens, who we'll have a story on up Tuesday.

Other notes:

  • 2018 Woodbridge (Va) Hylton star RB Ricky Slade visited Maryland on Wednesday with teammate Donovan Williams. Slade is a younger prospect but already holds offers from the Terps, Ohio State, Clemson, Penn State, Virginia and Virginia Tech, among others.

  • 2016 Good Counsel DE Izon Pulley earned his second scholarship offer from Old Dominion. The 6'3 240 pound-defensive end also hold an offer from Cincinnati.

  • 2016 Carmel HS (IN) linebacker Noah Burks received a scholarship from Maryland. After receiving that offer, Burks moved Maryland into his top-3 with Indiana and Illinois.

  • 2016 Carmel Catholic (IL) TE Noah Turner received his 11th offer from Buffalo. Turner earned a Terrapins offer in February.

  • 2016 4-star Athlete Jordan Fuller (VA) visited Michigan this past weekend. The Terps offered the 9th-ranked Athlete in the 2016 class back in September.
