Gamethread: Penn. State vs. Maryland

Will the Terps bounce back and get in the win column?

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Maryland Terrapins will welcome the Nittany Lions of Penn St. to the Xfinity Center for their first ever meeting as Big Ten opponents. Maryland leads the all-time series 9-7, but the teams have only met once in the last 25 years (a 62-39 Maryland victory in the 2010 B1G-ACC Challenge). The Terps are still tied for second in the Big Ten, and a victory tonight would be a good start the second half of the conference season.

Maryland finds themselves at something of a cross roads. The Terps managed to avoid a three game losing streak with an inspired four minutes of play against Northwestern. The NU squeaker was sandwiched between two brutal road blowouts. Those losses against Indiana and Ohio State demonstrate that Maryland needs to adapt and evolve as other teams take advantage of the Terp's faults.

Penn. State is as good of a bounce-back opponent as Maryland could hope for. The Nittany Lions are 2-7 in conference (though Penn. State has been in every game they've played), and lack scoring punch after D.J. Newbill is accounted for.

It's almost game time, let's go Terps!
