Maryland has officially added a specialist for the third straight class. After signing long snapper Nate Adams last year and kicker Brad Craddock the year before, Randy Edsall has added punter Nick Rubinowicz to the roster with the prospect's signing Wednesday.
Rubinowicz was a late addition to Maryland's class, picking up an offer late in the process and committing almost instantly. The 6'3, 210 pound prospect attends the American Heritage School of Boca in Delray Beach, Florida, and is one of the top punting prospects in the nation.
With three-year starter Nate Renfro graduating, Maryland's punting job is wide open. Rubinowicz is the favorite for the job (as the only competitor on scholarship), but he'll be competing with redshirt freshman Lee Shrader and fellow true freshman Nick Pritchard for the spot.

Rubinowicz was also being targeted by Cal, Virginia Tech and Princeton. He was an all-state punter and AP scholar in high school, earning a 4.5 star rating as both a kicker and a punter from Kohl's Kicking. Maryland has the reigning Lou Groza Award winner returning at kicker, but punter is an open position.
