Maryland volleyball's Ashlyn MacGregor was our Testudo Times Terp of the Week last week with 125 votes, continuing volleyball's dominant run through our weekly polls. This week's competition will only include three players but they all had sensational weeks. Our contestants this week are volleyball's Adreene` Elliott and field hockey's Welma Luus and Sarah Holliday.
Adreene` Elliott, Volleyball -
Elliott racked up a match-high 18 kills and four aces in Maryland's upset victory over No. 12 Ohio State in straight sets. The next highest total on either team was 12. She accounted for almost half of all of Maryland's kills and led Maryland to their first win over a ranked opponent in a little over five years.
Welma Luus, Field Hockey -
Welma Luus probably played the greatest field hockey of her life over the past week. The senior scored two goals in Maryland's 3-2 quarterfinal win over Michigan State. She tallied the equalizer in the second half of the semifinals against Northwestern. For an encore, she scored four goals in the Big Ten tournament final against No. 10 Michigan. She was named the Big Ten tournament MVP, broke the tournament record for goals scored that was set in 1981 and tied the Big Ten tournament record for goals in a single game.
Sara Holliday, Field Hockey -
Maryland's freshman goalie was as cool as the other side of the pillow this week. She had five saves against Michigan State, tied her career-high with six in a double overtime win in the semis against ranked Northwestern and added four in the final against No. 10 Michigan. The Terps have now won 17 games in a row and Holliday's stellar play in the cage is a huge reason why.
