Good evening, and happy Thanksgiving week. The Maryland men's basketball team is in Cancun for an 8:30 p.m. EST tip against the Illinois State Redbirds, a potentially plucky combatant out of the Missouri Valley Conference. You can view the game on the CBS Sports Network.
Maryland is the clear favorite here, but the Redbirds have proven to be dangerous before. They beat Wichita State in the MVC Tournament last spring, and they've got a deep roster with 11 rotation players under head coach Dan Muller. You can read a detailed game preview here, and you can follow along with our Cancun Challenge StoryStream here.
If the Terps win, they'll move on to face the winner of the (as of publication) still-ongoing TCU-versus-Rhode Island game. The Frogs aren't great and the Rams' best player is injured, but either could present an additional challenge for Maryland. Even if Maryland loses, the Terps will play again on Wednesday in a consolation game.
Enjoy the game, and thanks for stopping in to talk about it.
