How'd He Get to College Park?

Cekovsky was playing overseas in Spain, where head coach Mark Turgeon and assistant Dustin Clark paid him several visits. Many believed he'd end up at Louisville, with 78% of crystal ball predictions going towards the Cardinals. But he ultimately chose Maryland, with one of the main reasons being how Turgeon and his staff were able to develop Ukrainian-born Alex Len into a top-5 NBA draft pick, something that really resonated with Cekovsky.

Career Highlight:

There are a few that are worth mentioning here. The first was this awesome ally-opp from Jake Layman to Cekovsky during Maryland's NCAA Tournament game against West Virginia this past March:

His most complete game arguably came when Maryland played VMI last year. Cekovsky finished that game with 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks, coming off the bench and playing 23 minutes.

Dream Season:

Michal experiences an Alex Len type growth in his skill set from his freshman to sophomore year and becomes an important contributor in Maryland's front court rotation with Diamond Stone and Damonte Dodd.
