Maryland Madness 2015: How to watch, streaming, start time and schedule of events

The Maryland basketball season unofficially tips-off on Saturday at the Xfinity Center. Here's everything you need to know about tonight's event, including the schedule, how to watch, and who to expect in attendance.

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

On Saturday, Maryland fans will get their first glimpse of the men's and women's basketball teams, both of which begin the season with national title aspirations, as the school hosts their annual Maryland Madness event at the Xfinity Center. Midnight Madness, as it was once known and is still called by many teams across the country, was started by former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell, who decided to begin his team's first practice of the season as early as NCAA rules would allow. On October 15, 1971, Driesell had his team run a mile around the track at Byrd Stadium just after midnight, with lights from cars illuminating the field. That event starting what has now become a college basketball tradition throughout the United States.

Doors to this year's event , called "Magic Maryland Madness", will open at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Xfinity Center.  An autograph session will begin at 4:30 with the main show beginning at 6:00 pm. The event will feature magician JP Wilson and several of the nation's top recruits are expected to be in attendance. You can probably also expect some solid dance routines, like we saw last year.

How to watch:

The event will not be covered by any television station, but will be streamed on BTN2GO. However, you need a BTNPlus subscription in order to watch the event.
