Randy Edsall sent the following statement to Maryland football media on Monday night. Edsall's email was unsolicited, and he said it would be his only comment on his firing from Maryland this weekend. It reads: "On behalf of myself and my family I want to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to be part of the University of Maryland as its football coach. I am proud of the great progress we made with our student-athletes, not just on the field but in the community and the classroom. We take away a lot of great memories during our stay here at College Park and wish everyone the best in the coming months and years."
