The top player in the state has committed to Maryland. Three/four-star point guard Anthony Cowan has pledged to the Terps, the prospect announced on Twitter. The St. John's College (Md.) Class of 2016 guard picked Maryland over offers from Illinois, Xavier and Georgetown, among others.
Cowan, listed at 6'0 and 170 pounds, is considered a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite. He's rated as the No. 43 point guard in the country and the best player in the state of Maryland. He was also being recruited by Kenny Johnson at Louisville, one of the best DMV recruiters in the nation.
Andrew's quick scouting report:
Cowan may not be rated highly as of yet, but the talk around the local basketball scene is that the junior may be the best DMV point guard since...well...Melo Trimble. They are both great at getting to the line, and Cowan might be a "purer" PG than Melo.
