Gamethread: Northwestern vs. Maryland

Coming off the loss to Indiana, Maryland hosts the struggling Wildcats

Caylor Arnold-USA TODAY Sports

Maryland is looking to erase all memory of their 89-70 loss to Indiana today by welcoming the Northwestern Wildcats. The Terps (17-3 overall, 5-2 in the Big Ten) enter the game in a tie for second place in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are just 10-9 overall, and 1-5 in the Big Ten, good for 13th in the conference, ahead of only Penn. St. Maryland could not have planned a better match up to build confidence following the Indiana game.

Northwestern has difficulty scoring with any regularity. Junior Tre Demps leads the 'Cats in scoring at just 12 per game. The Wildcats do have pretty good size on the low post, as 7 foot Junior Alex Olah is averaging 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Freshman point guard Bryant McIntosh runs the show for Northwestern leading the team with 4.6 assists per game to go along with 11.9 points per game. The trio of Demps, Olah and McIntosh are the players to watch.
