How to watch Maryland vs. Rutgers live online: Time, TV schedule and more

Everything you need to know as the Terps take on Rutgers.

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

It's the battle of new kids on the block, but Maryland has been much more successful in the new conference than Rutgers so far. The Terps are coming off a 1-1 road stint that saw them lose to the Fighting Illini but bounce back against a big Purdue team. The Terps used a well balanced attack to get past the Boilermakers, with four players scoring in double figures as Maryland outscored Purdue 43-34 in the second half in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Rutgers was unanimously predicted to be the worst team in the Big Ten this season and have gotten off to a 10-7 start behind former Washington Wizards' head coach Eddie Jordan. The Scarlett Knights are coming off a huge win over the Frank Kamisky-less Wisconsin Badgers, handing them their first conference loss of the season. Rutgers is fueled by a duo of seniors in Myles Mack and Kadeem Jack, who both average over 12.5 points per game. The Scarlett Knights are monsters on the defensive glass but struggle mightily to get rhythm offensively.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Maryland is 15-2 and ranked No. 14 in the AP Poll and No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. Rutgers is 10-7 and ranked No. 149 in the KenPom rankings.

Odds: Maryland is a 15-point favorite

KenPom's prediction: Maryland, 68-55. 93% chance Maryland wins.

Two things at stake

Maryland can't avoid to lose to the league's worst team at home. With a win, they'd push themselves to 4-1 in the conference and be set up for a huge rematch at home against Michigan State.

With a win, Rutgers can say they've beaten the top two teams in the Big Ten and would have a few big wins on their resume with Minnesota and Michigan coming up on the schedule.

One big matchup

Melo Trimble vs. Myles Mack. Melo Trimble has more than asserted himself into the conversation for freshman of the year in the Big Ten but has struggled from the field in the last two games. There's a small margin of error against Rutgers senior Myles Mack, who averages 1.9 steals per game. The 5'10'' point guard is leading the team in scoring and assists and will challenge Trimble defensively all game. Whoever wins this matchup, could determine the outcome of the game.
