The Maryland Terrapins slipped three spots in the latest AP Poll, falling from No. 11 down to No. 14 after losing on the road to Illinois on Wednesday. Maryland dropped from No. 9 to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. The Terps recovered with a win at Purdue on Saturday, likely preventing a bigger tumble in this week's poll. Maryland remains the 2nd highest-ranked team in the Big Ten.
Around the Big Ten, Wisconsin fell to No. 7 after losing on the road to Rutgers on Sunday. Ohio State, who lost at Indiana on Saturday, dropped out of this week's Top 25, leaving only two Big Ten schools in this week's poll. The Buckeyes are just outside the Top 25 at No. 26.
Iowa State, who Maryland beat back on November 25th, climbed from No. 17 to No. 11 this week, following their two point win on the road against No. 14 West Virginia. Virginia, who Maryland lost to at home in the B1G-ACC Challenge, moved up to No. 2, jumping over Duke who lost yesterday to N.C. State. UVA also received two first-places votes, with the remainder going to Kentucky, who remains at No. 1.
Maryland has two home games this week, facing Rutgers Wednesday, fresh off their incredible upset over Wisconsin, before taking on Michigan State on Saturday in a rematch of Maryland's double-overtime win over the Spartans on December 30th.
