Maryland took down Lehigh Friday night in Fairfax, VA in four sets (20-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-15). The Mountain Hawks led for the entire first set with the Terps cutting the lead to two at 22-20. A kill from Lehigh followed by a Maryland attack error and Lehigh ace finished off set one 25-20. Set two was extremely close with no team having more than a two point lead. Tied at 25, a kill from Emily Fraik pushed the Terps ahead for good and they closed it out 27-25. The third set had Maryland comfortably in the lead and again Fraik helped closed it out 25-20. Set four was all Maryland as they dominated 25-15.
Adreene Elliott led offensively with 18 kills (18-8-48 .208) and Carlotta Oggioni had 40 assists. Fraik had an excellent overall match with 12 kills and 17 digs to lead the Terps defensively. The middle attack was solid with Chavi St. Hill seeing her first action of the season (4 kills/.444/5 block assists) and freshmen Hailey Murray adding 7 kills with a .364 hitting percentage.
Overall the Terps hit .244 and had 11 total team blocks, a major improvement from the first weekend. They look to continue their winning ways today against East Tennessee State at 12:00PM and George Mason at 6:00PM.
