Maryland football depth chart: Multiple changes made ahead of Big Ten opener

There's a lot to talk about in this week's version of the new depth chart, with changes at starting positions and second-string roles.

At running back, Wes Brown has joined Albert Reid in the number two slot, as both share the backup role behind Brandon Ross. At tight end, Derrick Hayward and P.J. Gallo are now co-starters following the season-ending injury to Andrew Isaacs. With the loss of Quinton Jefferson to the year, former co-starting nose tackle Keith Bowers moves over to end, leaving Darius Kilgo as the lone starter at nose tackle. Kilgo's backup is true freshman David Shaw, who made his debut against Syracuse. At SAM linebacker, Jalen Brooks and Avery Thompson combine to replace backup Cavon Walker, out for the year with an injury as well.

The most notable move likely comes at running back, although Randy Edsall has not exactly stuck with the depth chart when making his in-game personnel decisions previously. It could be a good season that all four starting linebackers are listed, but Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil missed the first three games of the season despite being listed as a first-stringer. Hayward and Gallo may get a chance to prove themselves at tight end, but Maryland hadn't used Isaacs much so far this year.
