Josh Lambert kicked a 47-yard field goal as time expired, and West Virginia beat Maryland, 40-37, in front of 48,154 at Byrd Stadium on Saturday.
Maryland had tied the game on a Will Likely punt return touchdown and had a chance to win on offense, but Clint Trickett drove West Virginia into field goal range from his own 5-yard-line to set up Lambert's winner.
