Returning from a brief injury respite, C.J. Brown scored on a 75-yard run on the first play of the second half, but Maryland's offense couldn't sustain drives afterward, and the Terps are in a precarious spot heading into the fourth quarter against West Virginia.
Maryland had a Nathan Renfro punt blocked through the end zone for a safety, then surrendered Clint Trickett's fourth passing touchdown of the afternoon on an 11-yard in-route by Daikiel Shorts. The Terps ran just 11 offensive plays for the rest of the quarter, not coming close to scoring again.
West Virginia's lead was just one point after Brown scored, but the game is now a serious uphill climb for Maryland.
