High School Highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Culmer was a multi-sport athlete at Willingboro High school, playing not only football, but basketball and track as well. Originally from Atlanta, he moved to NJ and became a three year starter at wide receiver, while also playing cornerback. Showing some of that multi-sport versatility, Culmer finished his senior season 7.9 rushing yards per carry and 18 yards per catch. He had a nose for the end zone scoring 12 touchdowns as a senior and 11 in his junior season.  Maryland beat out future B1G foes Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan State for Culmer’s services. In an interview with the Sun's Matt Bracken Culmer said, "I felt like I committed for a reason. [Maryland is] the college I was supposed to go to."

Profiling the entire team

Nickname:

Let’s call him ‘X’ not just for Malcolm but because he could be an x-factor

Career Highlight:

Getting his first start and catching two passes against West Virginia..

Dream Season:

Wrests the number two wide out spot and moves ahead of Taivon Jacobs.

2014 Prospectus:

The Terps are simply stacked at wide receiver where Nigel King and Deon Long Will Likely hold down the starting slots. Barring injury he Will Likely battle for playing time with the Jacobs brothers, Amba Etta-Tawo, Juwann Winfree and Marcus Leak for playing time. Culmer and the younger Jacobs are listed second behind Leak the depth chart at one of the two outside receiving positions. It appears those two will fight it out to solidify a number two spot behind Leak, but either could try and wrest the position away from him.
