Maryland has lost out on one of the top prospects in the area for the2 015 class, as Bishop McNamara (Md.) three-star cornerback Ashton White has committed to Notre Dame after receiving a late offer from the Irish. White was rumored to be a Maryland lean prior to the Irish offer, and also held offers from Ohio State and Virginia Tech, among others. He announced the decision on Twitter.

White is rated a three-star by the 247sports composite, considered the 56th-best athlete in the nation and the 14th-best player in the state of Maryland. White originally committed to Virginia Tech back in December, but decommitted in March after attending Maryland's Junior Day. He later took a visit to Penn State and received a boatload of new offers, grabbing the coveted Notre Dame scholarship in late June while camping in South Bend.

Cornerback was a big position of need for the Terps in the class of 2015, but between the commitments of Kareem Ali, Darnell Savage, Ty Johnson and now White, they've pretty much solved that issue. White is Maryland's second local loss of the day, following Purdue commit Wyatt Cook.
