And we thought we'd seen the end of the ACC. Maryland is set to take the field in a best of three series against rival Virginia in what has been their most successful season in program history. The Terps, returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1971, were unbeaten as the two seed in the Columbia region to advance to the Super Regionals for the first time ever. Maryland is steaming hot entering the ballgame winning their last 14 of 16 games, including wins over Virginia, Florida State and South Carolina twice.
Virginia breezed through the Charlottesville region, defeating Bucknell in the first round and setting Arkansas down twice in a row to advance to Super Regionals. The Cavaliers held their own destiny in the NCAAT, entering the tournament as the number three national seed, thus securing home field advantage. The winner of the series advances to Omaha to compete in the World Series against seven other teams.
